[ecotopia] RE: 2nd Small Update to Ecotopia?

And my mailbox plus at least 25 emails per day.... ecotopia? is starting to live....
Yes some days past by again... and by now I got reactions from all over Europe, just chatted with Armenia, in the hope to get them involved with people in Turkey and them to organise a biketour again, from the far east to here.... passing by the east of europe... any dutch or further west living people wanted to come by bike as well?
The main "problem" now is that it slowly started from an idea to become a small half day job already and since I am "living" from selling my book at the time it means a small conflict of interest,... so another reason why we need some funding soon (i am running out of money I do not have :-)).... but that is the least interesting part of this starting ecovillage....
Main thing I want to write you about is following:
For Ecotopia? we hope to build up a real stable Infrastructure here, not improvised as in most Ecotopia's in the past, nothing bad about that, but for 22 years when the idea the first time was born the aim was the leave something behind which could be used afterwards, in most ecotopia's this was not always possible to realise it on a larger scale. We, meaning the area where I live, have the long time dream to realise a ecological camping place in this area. We live not far away from Berlin in a natur park and the new first european bike route, the R1, from Poland to France... and more of those things....
With Ecotopia? we hope to establish an ecological campingplace, a kind of pilot project, on which constructors and idea maker for new type of ecological energy production and water use and so can have a place to try out in practice... a place which will be used after the Ecotopia? festival for travellers, but also available for bigger groups to organise their activities there... Furthermore in the years to come next to the camping a small ecological village will be build, a say so "housing 3.0 project" (3 generations, and 0 energy use), but that's the next dream to be realized...
Festival and infrastructure are two different thing with other words. At the one hand the camping place will be build up as a kind of small compagny (collective), for which we hope to get official funding in co-operation with the towncouncil of Wiesenburg... but first they have to decide that we get the land and the permission to use it the way we want, allthought knowing that towncouncil and the place (who haven"t been use for almost 17 years or some even longer and since it is so far from the motorway and big cities no industrie ever will come there) that would not be a big problem. Informal the messages is "yes, come".
Ofcourse we need help for the infrastructure, if you are connected to somebody or some group who is experimenting and wants to have a plans to promote their sollution, please do not hesitate and tell them about it, maybe we find a way together, with spezial international funding to get them here.. or when they are bigger compagnies as sponsering...
Now to the Ecotopia? Festival
That will take place as first event on that camping place... for that the get at least 500 participants there we need a huge network to be build up, that is working at the moment, but at this moment only individuals involved, no NGO's yet, at least not official, to aplly for funding, f.e. from the European Youth Foundation we need however ((inter)national) NGO's involved, on our side (the flaeming region) that is NOT a big problem, there are different NGO's here who can act as partner, but they need (active) partner NGO elsewhere ...
This may sounds a bit quick, still over 500 days to go till the opening of Ecotopia?, but most funding places need their proposals more than year in beforehand, and when we want to have money for preparation and promotion next year we need to aply now...
Therefor I am asking you to bring to ecotopia? idea up in your NGO, i you are member of one, and see if a partnership is possible.
Furtheron....
Starting with the ANTI NATO demo in France/Germany in April we would like to have a small Ecotopia? mobilisation pamflet, leaflet, whatever... I will be cooking there and on many other fetsival and camps this sommer and it would be good to start the promotion already now, ....
Last but not least...
Who of you maybe be interesting in participating in a meeting coming winter (december or so) to see eachother before .. in order to be able to have to whole thing on the rails by next year...
